About

I’m Genevieve Jack, your friendly neighborhood romance writer. I’m the fifth child of a florist and a sheet metal worker, and if that sounds like the beginning of a story, it is.

My parents gave me my first real experience with romance. As of this writing, they’ve been married sixty-seven years, and they’re still noticeably in love—the kind of love that shows up in small everyday moments and makes you believe in forever.

My parents had me late in life, which made things a little unusual in the family-dynamics department. They’re old enough to be my grandparents, there’s a big age spread between me and my siblings, and my nephew is old enough to be my brother. Plus, I already have great-nephews, even though one of my own kids is still in school.

In the words of Joe Fox from You’ve Got Mail, “We are an American family.”

So what does all that have to do with becoming a writer?

Well, I grew up with voices in my head—different voices from different generations—and I witnessed love in all its forms: the kind that feels instant, the kind that grows on you like moss on the shady side of a tree, and sometimes even the kind that can suffocate you, or quietly poison all the joy from your life. All of it taught me something. All of it became story.

I lived my own love story when I met Aaron in a local Midwest bar only to find out he was a Hawaii native who was just visiting. One year and hours and hours of phone conversations later, he came back to visit and never left. We’ve been married twenty-five years, and I still feel like the luckiest woman in the world.

When we met, I was an accountant, and eventually I managed a financial portfolio for a large corporation. But when one of our children needed extra help and that management position offered zero flexibility, I left to be a full-time mom. And I read A LOT of books. At doctor appointments and lessons and during nap time… I was always reading.

Losing half our income was tough, though, and I did what a lot of people do when life gets tight: I reinvented myself. Once both kids were in school, I earned my nursing degree.

But I also did something else.

I wrote my first book in 2010, stealing moments on my lunch break, at the kids’ lessons, and late at night after everyone else was asleep, scribbling scenes by hand in a cheap notebook. When it was finished, I sent it to agents and editors. One editor told me it was the best he’d read that year, but no one opted to take a chance on a debut author.

So in 2011, I took the chance on myself.

Between then and now, I’ve published many more books. With nearly a million copies sold and translations in multiple languages, it’s been one of the great honors of my life to entertain readers with my words.

There is one thing I know for sure:

Love is the truest magic and the most fulfilling fantasy. Books were my escape during some of the darkest and most difficult times of my life. Now I write page-turning paranormal and fantasy romance so other people can escape too—even if only for a little while.

There are three things you can expect from a Genevieve Jack novel: magic will play a key role, unexpected twists are the norm, and love will conquer all.

Thanks for visiting me here. Take a look around. I think you’ll find something to love.
